In Italy during these days is aired on RAI 1 “La mia casa è piena di specchi” (“My house is filled with mirrors”), a biographical telefilm by Vittorio Sindoni, about the story of the Scicolone family, from the years of poverty until Sophia’s international success, namely 1962, the year she won an Oscar for her role in La Ciociara directed by Vittorio De Sica.
Margareth Madè, a Sicilian-born actress and model, was chosen in June 2009 to play Sophia’s role following a publicity campaign to find the best Sophia double.
The ever wonderful Loren plays her mother in the film. This is not the first time: in 1980 NBC produced Sophia Loren: Her Own Story, a documentary film in which Sophia recalls the postwar years and her childhood in Pozzuoli. In this first biographical effort, Sophia played both her mother and herself.
